This course prepares Japanese-to-English media translators for their role in bringing Japanese media content to a global audience. Classes cover the essential knowledge and skills to build a strong foundation in Japanese-to-English media translation, including an overview of the profession and industry, the fundamentals of English subtitle and dub translation, and training to develop strong English writing skills. Over 80% of this course is conducted in English.

Everyone is welcome, whether you’re completely new to translation or just getting into Japanese media. Each class guides you through the content step-by-step, so you can learn at your own pace without feeling rushed.

| Who Can Enroll | Recommended English level: TOEIC 800+ Recommended Japanese level: JLPT N2 or above Students without these scores can still enroll if they meet the following criteria: – Able to write in natural, grammatically correct English – Able to write with an understanding of Japanese cultural context (Prior translation experience not required) |
